Lee Child

Lee Child writes:

I read a lot all my life but the first sentence of Killing Floor was the first actual fiction writing I ever tried. I spent 6 months and 13 days writing the book. Happily it sold fast to the first agent and first editor who saw it.

This is a demonstration of the law of averages -- if, say, the average is 5 rejections, then some folk must get 10 and some folk must get 0. I'm on the lucky end of the law.

Somewhere in The Enemy -- my 8th book -- is my millionth paid word. Anyone who can tell me what it is needs to get a life.

Lee Child is the author of the internationally bestselling Jack Reacher series. His next book, One Shot, will be released in the United States in June.
